Mussoorie, often called the "Queen of the Hills," sits about 35 km from Dehradun and remains one of Uttarakhand's most popular hill-station getaways, combining colonial-era charm with genuinely dramatic Himalayan views.

Getting to Mussoorie

The drive from Dehradun takes roughly 1-1.5 hours along a winding hill road, passing Malsi Deer Park en route — an easy stop if you're driving yourself. Shared taxis and buses also run regularly from Dehradun, making Mussoorie accessible even without a private vehicle.

What Mussoorie Offers

Mall Road forms the town's social and commercial spine — shopping, restaurants, and evening strolls with mountain views. Beyond the Mall, Mussoorie's real draw is its viewpoints and colonial-era architecture, best explored over at least one full day. See our Best Places to Visit in Mussoorie guide for the specific attractions worth prioritising.

Best Time to Visit

March to June offers pleasant weather and clear mountain views, while September to November brings crisp, clear post-monsoon skies. December to February can bring snowfall, appealing if you specifically want a snow experience but requiring warmer clothing and flexible travel plans given occasional road closures.

Where to Stay

Mussoorie has accommodation across every price range, from heritage colonial-era hotels to budget guesthouses — booking ahead is sensible during peak summer (April-June) and around major holidays, when the town's narrow roads and limited parking get genuinely congested.
