7-Day Dehradun, Mussoorie & Rishikesh Itinerary for US Travelers
A day-by-day starting point for a first Uttarakhand trip from the US — enough time to see Dehradun, Mussoorie and Rishikesh without rushing.
This is a starting template for a first Uttarakhand trip — not a fixed package. Tell us your actual dates and interests and we'll adjust every day of it.
Day 1: Arrival in Dehradun
Arrive in Dehradun (by domestic flight or road transfer from Delhi — see our Delhi airport to Dehradun guide) and check into your hotel. Given the length of the journey from the US plus the time zone shift, we'd suggest keeping this first day light — settle in, get an early dinner, and let jet lag catch up rather than diving straight into sightseeing.
Day 2: Dehradun Sightseeing
A full day exploring Dehradun itself — colonial-era landmarks, temples, and the general rhythm of the Doon Valley. This is a good, low-key day to properly adjust before the more active parts of the trip begin.
Day 3: Travel to Mussoorie
A short drive (roughly 1-1.5 hours) up to Mussoorie. Spend the afternoon exploring Mall Road and taking in your first proper Himalayan viewpoint.
Day 4: Mussoorie
A full day in Mussoorie — the Gun Hill cable car, Kempty Falls, and, if you have the time and interest, the quieter Landour area with its colonial lanes and George Everest House.
Day 5: Travel to Rishikesh
